This is one quote that has stuck with me for a while.  I like it because it gives me permission to be small.  It’s not saying that in order for me to be successful that I have to GO BIG OR GO HOME…no…that’s not how it works in our lives day in and day out.  Sometimes we do have days when we “drop the mic” on the stage and walk away hearing cheers from our family, and friends, but…most days…I’m just thankful I got up, put my panties on right, and I have food on the table for my family.  Let’s be honest, life is messy, life is hard.  It’s hard to make a decision to prep a meal instead of watch TV.  It’s hard to get up at 5am to get a workout in, because it’s only time of day that you can actually take 30 minutes while everyone is sleeping, and hopefully not get interrupted.  It’s messy when we are sick, or our family is sick.  Everyone’s schedule gets off, and you have to start all over again. 

The sheer amount of emotions that we go though in a day is staggering.  Look at all that you do…seriously…look!  It’s intimidating to think of adding or changing something to your schedule.  I felt like that last year when I started this journey.  I didn’t know how I was going to do it, I just knew that it was time, and it needed to happen.  I was still breastfeeding Anna, so I would sneak out of bed to workout at 5am, and hopefully sneak back into the bedroom to the shower without waking her or Tim up.  I remember one morning she was not staying asleep for anything, and I literally did the 21 Day Fix Pilates DVD while nursing her.  Thankfully that DVD is all on the floor so I just moved her around with me, but at that moment I had to say, “No, baby girl.  If you want mommy right now, this is what you get.  This is my time.”  She was almost 18 months old so I didn’t feel as guilty, but still, that was incredibly hard for me to decide to do that. 

When you decide to make a lifestyle change, there are going to be moments when you have to access your decisions.  You have to ask yourself WHY and I doing this?  If your WHY isn’t good enough, you’ll always make an excuse.  You’ll always falter, and fall down, and have to start all over again.  I know we have all done that.  I know we all have those goals that we just never seem to meet, but let me assure you, what Mr. Collier says is true.  A lifestyle change needs to happen over your LIFETIME.  This is not an all at once, BAM, you’re done change.  It’s the day in, day out decisions you make towards your goal/s that will add up over your lifetime. 

I say all this because I don’t want you to feel defeated.  If you are eating 2 more veggie servings a day than you were…you are being successful.  If you are choosing whole grain bread over white bread…you are being successful.  If you use a salad plate, instead of the dinner plate to cut serving sizes…you are being successful.  Don’t let your failures bog you down when they happen, because they will.  Take a moment, and look at what you have already accomplished.  One bad day doesn’t kill every good decision that you have made up to that day. 

You will fail, but I want you to promise me something…promise me, yourself, your family, your dog, your mama, your papa…whomever!  Just promise this…Promise to never fail to quit.
